This summer, students in COM 384 learned Digital Storytelling from the talented Mikaya Thurmond (themikaya). Students studied concepts such as color theory and innovative narrative frameworks, and then created various projects to apply their knowledge.
One of the assignments for the course was to make a video focused on community engagement. Tristan McNish’s video, featured here, focused his storytelling lens on the Doggy Day Out program through Paws4ever (paws4ever_nc).
Tristan said, “I thought doing this program would be a perfect way to treat a dog to something special and hopefully encourage other students to give it a shot. I think for a lot of people it is hard to see photos, especially of an older dog in a shelter, and visualize what it would look like to have a dog like that in your life, so I thought the video would do a good job at bridging that gap.
