Every week… we JUMP ⬆️
Â
Why do we jump?
Â
Power is the key physical driver in most (if not all!) sports. In hockey, players who can produce greater lower body power will have the advantage of being faster on-ice.
Â
Although a hockey player doesn’t jump in their sport, unlike a basketball or volleyball player would, vertical jump height acts as a lower body power performance metric. With the new addition of our hawkindynamics force plates, we are also able to see the athlete’s jump strategy, which paints a picture of their underlying neuromuscular capabilities. Knowing if an athlete needs more velocity or more force gives us the ability to write a more directed and effective program.
Â
Stay tuned for a future post where we highlight different strategy metrics we look at and some ways that we’ve been using the data this Off-Season.
