Persistent insecurity in the country has taken a toll on education. 800 schools have closed nationwide, depriving nearly 70,000 students of their basic right to education. The #UnitedNations humanitarian office, together with the government of Niger and partners, is working to ensure access to safe schools and education for all, despite the unrest. 29 emergency education facilities are now being set up in Tillabéri, one of the areas most affected by violence in the country. The UN and its partners will continue to support families in Niger and millions more across the Sahel amid the worsening consequences of conflict, the climate crisis and record food prices.
