35-year-old Rabi Saley from #Mali works with other women at a market garden in #Niger. The mother of seven was forced to flee to her home due to ongoing conflict and violence. She now tends to the market garden, where she learns about cultivation techniques alongside other women from local communities. The produce she grows enables her to provide for her family. "We did this … all together with the different communities: the refugees, the displaced and the local community of Ouallam," Rabi says proudly. Through its market garden initiative in Niger, the #UnitedNations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) is helping to empower women while leveraging sustainable development to counter the impacts of the climate crisis.
