I’m not sure if it was all the assessments, progress reports, or just the fact that we’ve been 100% virtual for almost a year... but it was just a hard week. My kids are still trying their best and their families are still so supportive, but nevertheless it’s challenging and exhausting for us all. My anxiety was at an all time high and I was just sad. I miss having kids in my classroom.⁣ ⁣ THEN, yesterday when I went to make copies for our packet pick up next week, I was reminded why I teach. In my box, there was a letter from a previous student thanking me for helping him through a tough time when he was in my 6th grade class. Thanking me for caring about him as a person and for teaching him more than just academics. It absolutely made my week.⁣ ⁣ They are listening. They are learning. What we do matters to them.
