Dancers with hypermobility can be incredibly flexible! This can be great for aesthetics, but it can also lead to instability. 🩰 Here's why: Hypermobile joints lack control at their full range, making dancers feel "loose." Their body compensates by "locking out" joints, seeking a sense of stability. This can be tricky for dance training! While some styles celebrate hypermobility, safety is key. How do you find that balance? ⚖️ 💪 Strengthen your core: Pilates is a great option! It builds core strength and improves proprioception (body awareness). This helps dancers move with more control and reduces injury risk. (We offer Pilates here at BDI!) 💭 Rethink movement patterns: It takes focused effort to retrain the body out of hypermobile tendencies. But with practice, dancers can achieve amazing things while staying safe! Ready to explore options? We can help!
