Static Dress, 2000 Trees Festival
REVIEW: “Where are my fucking moshers at,” Olli Appleyard bellows towards the huge assembly gathered before him for this Static Dress appearance. Considering just how many people are already throwing themselves around, as well as over the barricade, with vigour and violence in between singing along to every word, it’s quite something to be demanding even more. Yet it is fully justified with the form that the band are in here. The edges of their timeless post-hardcore have never felt sharper; the time spent crafting and curating such a fascinating universe paying off in abundance being presented in a unifying space like this. It creates an atmosphere that bristles with danger, like anything could explode at any second. It’s a feeling that Olli, in particular, gobbles up with gusto, with the likes of ‘sweet.’ and ‘Courtney, just relax’ bringing out the real beast in him.
