How about we do a “Meet the Band” series? ⠀ ⠀ I’m Alec. I’m 26 years old, originally from Nogales, Arizona. ⠀ ⠀ I’ve been playing music since I was a child, starting off on vocals and the violin in my family’s mariachi band, Mariachi Sombra de Nogales. We played all over Arizona and northern Mexico, and opened for many renowned artists in the Latin music world, like Juan Gabriel, Los Temerarios, and even Linda Ronstadt, during the 1990’s and early 2000’s. ⠀ ⠀ I played percussion and violin, respectively, in the band and orchestra programs of my elementary, middle school, and high schools. I also taught myself how to play the piano and the guitar during this time. ⠀ ⠀ During middle school and high school, I was fortunate enough to participate in Mark Wood’s (Trans-Siberian Orchestra) “Electrify Your Strings” rock orchestra program.
