Called the “Backbone of the Civil Rights Movement,” Ella Baker used her interpersonal skills to inspire and teach others they had the power to make a change. Involved in the NAACP and SCLC, she helped local leaders strategize and implement targeted campaigns against lynching as well as advocating for job training and equal pay for Black teachers. Baker advised college students in Raleigh, North Carolina to form the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in 1960. #WomenYouShouldKnow #WomensHistoryMonth
