It just goat serious. 🐐📚 When you’re late for curfew and your parents greet you at the door. Visitors to carlsandburghomenhs can “Read to a Goat” during #NationalReadingMonth in March. For real! No kidding. Well, a few kids. This month, a red wagon full of books by Carl Sandburg will be available at the entrance to the barnyard and pasture. Visitors are invited to borrow a book or bring their own, then find a comfortable spot on a bench in the yard or in the pasture and read aloud to the goats. (Good for relaxing. Unless the goat attempts to eat the book leading to an awkward struggle followed by a ranger looking over to see a full grown adult and agitated goat rolling down the hillside as the goat unleashes a rain of expletives…sorry, just goat noises.) The barnyard and pasture are open from 10 am to 3 pm daily.
