"Run away! Run away!” Rocky Mountain National Park is home to many legendary beasts, some with nasty, big, pointy teeth! If you get too close, they will definitely make you go Arrrghhh!!! There are also smaller animals. They may draw you in with their cuteness, but you should not approach either. (Watch the neck!) Marmots are one of the largest members of the squirrel family. They can be two feet in length and weigh up to 11 pounds. Their large body size is an adaptation to the cold, high elevation sites in which they live. A marmot's day consists of morning and evening feedings. In between, they spend the middle of the day hidden in their burrows awaiting the arrival of ‘knights.’ Image: Two marmots running through the snow at @rockynps.
