Here are a few reasons: The scale measures your entire body weight - including water, lean mass, microbiome, and fat. Water alone makes up 60% of our weight and microbiomes on our skin can weigh up to 6 lbs! Our bodies naturally fluctuate in weight and the scale doesn’t take that into account. The scale can’t control inconsistencies such as the weight of your clothing, the last time you had bowel movement, and even inconsistencies in your environment (a lopsided floor can change your weight by even 5 lbs!) Basically, a scale cannot give you a clear picture of if you’re losing fat and gaining lean muscle mass, which is what you should be measuring.
