Today’s spring-like weather has us thinking about Italian wine pairings and vibrant, dynamic dishes. So we flipped right to Sicily! It’s a great place to go for bold yet fresh aromatics and flavors. The cuisine on the big island of Sicily, as you can imagine, consists heavily of seafood (sardines and swordfish anyone?) while major produce includes peppers, olives, almonds, and citrus fruits (and of course grapes!) It couldn’t be more true in this case, what grows together goes together. Quality, lighter-bodied reds from Sicily, like this blend from Hauner Carlo, have plenty of acid to stand up to robust seafood dishes and bold mediterranean vegetables without overpowering them.
