This week tanenbaumchat welcomed three guest speakers that we’d like to think would have made Theodor Herzl himself proud. On Tuesday, the Jewish history department hosted former lone soldier Rudy Rochman. Rochman, now an Israel activist spoke to Grade 11 and 12 students about the importance of the Jewish people reclaiming their narrative when it comes to the Land of Israel and the current conversation around Palestine. On Wednesday, alumnus David Matlow ’78 dropped by Ms. Polonsky’s Grade 11 Jewish history class to talk about his life-long interest in Theodor Herzl and to share photos and stories from his personal collection of Herzl memorabilia (the world’s largest private collection!). On Thursday, our Israel Engagement shlichim (emissaries) Lee and Ariel, with an assist from hasbarafellowships, brought Izzy Ezagui to our school.
