It seemed like Avida Bachar lost his entire world on October 7. His 16-year-old son and his wife, the love of his life, were murdered before his eyes in their home in Kibbutz Be’eri. He himself lost his right leg.
Yet, in the months since that dreadful day, Bachar has refused to accept the role of victim that fate seemed to have assigned him. He is determined to embrace a life of optimism and hope.
When we had the honor of hosting him and his good friend Sharon Shabo (who was also badly injured) during the Tour de France. It was an enlightening lesson for us in inspiration and human strength.
