Our body uses cortisol to help us wake up naturally - called, 'cortisol awakening response'. When we wake up naturally, without an alarm clock, we experience a spike in our 'cortisol awakening response' - that overcomes our sleep pressure and allows us to wake up. Our cortisol awakening response is designed to break sleep inertia. Sleep inertia is the feeling of grogginess or disorientation that occurs immediately after waking up from nighttime sleep or a nap. It can cause difficulty in thinking, reduced ability to concentrate, and slower reaction times. Sleep inertia can last for a few minutes up to several hours, depending on various factors such as the depth of sleep, duration of sleep, and time of day. Waking during peak cortisol awakening response helps you feel better in the morning when you wake up, you feel rejuvenated and rested. #sleepbetter #goodmorning #morningroutine #sleepwell #sleephelp
