Allostatic overload (mismanaged life stress), a maladaptive environment (physiological stress), and potentially even excess tension & perceived threats from training/playing can be stored in the nervous system - not unlike glitches in software. Physiologically, we do store our issues in our tissues. Athletes and pretty much anyone can benefit from some level of somatic therapy that releases these trapped neurological "ghosts in the machine" in the form of neurogenic "trauma" release. But what is this? Ever seen a deer shake itself off after nearly getting hit crossing the road? Those videos of goats that shake after getting scared?
