REVIEW: Here we go again. Neck Deep, Reading Festival, Round Two. But this time, it’s for the hardcore fans.
Whilst their victorious set on the main stage earlier showed off more of what they have been doing recently, headlining the Festival Republic stage is the perfect chance to bring out some classics from the collection, and the reaction is as you would expect.
‘Kali Ma’, ‘Lime St.’ and ‘What Did You Expect?’ are all gold-plated in every way, whilst ‘She’s A God’ is even more of an earworm now than when it was unleashed. Yet it’s as we get deeper, with a first-ever UK playthrough of ‘I Hope This Comes Back To Haunt You’ and ‘Crushing Grief (No Remedy)’ for the first time in five years, that the true extent of the love and admiration there is for the band really shines through. Every song from across the years is met with the same level of unbridled excitement and unrelenting joy, and that’s a hard-earned position to be in.
