It's clear the
#Democratic establishment wanted
#KamalaHarris to be the nominee. But they knew that if
#Biden had announced he would not seek another term prior to the primaries being held, Kamala would have had no chance of winning the nomination fairly. That's because there would have been a series of debates where she would have faced off against far more competent challengers, including
@RobertKennedyJr. So, they had to keep up the pretense that Biden was "sharp as a tack" long enough for him to secure the nomination, which he could then hand off to
#Kamala after dropping out. To pull off the switch, they organized an unprecedented pre-convention debate with
#Trump,
(allowing them to feign shock at Biden's mental state), held late enough to ensure that no other Democrat could challenge
#Harris, but early enough to ensure they could install her as the nominee before the Convention.
