Today in Hip-Hop — wearedelasoul released their third studio album, ‘Buhloone Mindstate.’
On September 21, 1993, De La Soul followed up ‘De La Soul Is Dead’ with a brand new album that dove even deeper into the Jazz and Soul influences from generations before them. This time working with more live instrumentation and veteran musicians from James Brown’s band, The J.B.’s, as well as of Parliament Funkadelic.
The Long Island trio opened the album on the intro track by saying, “It might blow up, but it won’t go pop”—giving context to the chosen title and emphasizing their disinterest to ever go the Pop music route.
