This past June, six students in the #IllinoisCollege teacher preparation program had the opportunity to spend a month in Ecuador, broadening their global perspectives. During their time abroad, the students engaged in cultural activities, stayed with host families, and visited various educational institutions, gaining valuable insights into Ecuadorian cultural and educational practices. The program, designed by Illinois College and funded by a $96,000 federal grant from the Fulbright-Hays Program, addresses the need for greater cultural education in many U.S. schools. Through full immersion, it offers participants a deep understanding of diverse cultural contexts. At Illinois College, 100% of graduates participate in high-impact, hands-on experiences like this one, allowing them to put theory into practice in real-world settings.
