More than 100 people filled the West Des Moines City Council chambers earlier this week to express their concern about the possibility of new bridges spanning the Raccoon River.
City officials are studying the idea of building new bridges over the river to push traffic and economic development to the south side of the city. But people who live in that area are worried about what might happen to the landscapes and natural resources around them should they be built.
