Yvonne Hernandez-Guerra, a Health and Human Sciences major who works with uscjep, recently spent the day teaching science to second graders at Vermont Avenue Elementary.
Hernandez-Guerra used licorice and gummy bears to teach students about DNA helixes 🧬.
You could say the students ate it up 😋.
The USC Joint Education Project, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is one of the oldest and largest service-learning programs in the United States. More than 2,000 USC students each year enroll in JEP’s service-learning, work-study and volunteer programs.
