How does weather affect a NASCAR Engineer’s job? 🤔⛅️
On this episode of RFK TeK Talk Built by fastenal_company, Race Engineer Andrew Kluckhuhn discusses just that. Ambient weather conditions are HUGE for how we set up our race cars. The hotter the conditions, the hotter the components inside the car. Our engineers can make decisions on how much tape will cover openings on the car that allow air flow to get to parts such as the radiator, the engine, and the brakes. More tape can equal more downforce and faster lap time - but it also equals more heat since the parts aren’t getting as much air to cool them. It’s a weekly balance when the weather is always changing.
