TRADITIONS: Freshman Sofia Moreno provides both vocals and piano for the song “Costumbres” during the Hispanic Heritage Talent Show at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center on Oct. 12. Although Moreno had done auditions previously, this was her first time participating in a full-fledged competition. “I’ve been singing since I was a kid,” Moreno said. “I’ve always loved music since I was little.” The performance earned Moreno a finalist position, and a $200 gift card to H-E-B. While the prize was much appreciated, she didn’t do it for the money. “I just wanted to share my music with everyone,” Moreno said.
