Former USMNT keeper Brad Guzan is now 40, but he’s still full of energy— as he and Atlanta United beat Inter Miami yesterday in MLS playoffs to set up Game 3 in Miami next week.
Guzan has played 35 games this season in MLS so far. His nine saves against Miami last week and five saves against Montreal few days before got a lot of people talking.
He was asked how he’s still going strong at his age.
“I don’t feel 40. I feel as if I’m 25 and I’m one of the guys, and I feel that I can just continue to carry on and compete,” Guzan told the MLS website.
“You don’t look at yourself with a number, with an age. It’s more about, do you have that desire? Do you have the ability to carry on?”
“And when you have that, you’re just one of the guys, and you’re just one of the guys that happens to have a lot of experience.”
What’s even impressive than his age is his return from two recent major injuries to keep performing in MLS.
