This is how a D1 athlete prepares for a meet the day before the meet!! Some key things to note if you’re looking to try new things in your routine:
1️⃣: Keep everything SIMPLE: The day was relaxed and stress-free. Doing too much may exhaust you from competing. Usually the day is focused on feeling refreshed for the race. That means resting and getting good sleep. I made sure to hydrate a lot as well. 💦
2️⃣: DINNER: I forgot to film my food but I had some good simple carbs and protein with not too much fat. Foods like spaghetti or rice with a side of some kind of protein is perfect. 🍞
3️⃣: MOVE: One of the biggest things I didn’t know when I was inexperienced was it’s good to run and do strides the day before a competition. Jogging the course, running some strides or even a very light workout prepares your body to feel light, bouncy, and ready for a hard effort the next day.
