MacTheatre hosted a technical theatre workshop for incoming eighth graders on Saturday, Nov. 9 in the MAC. The hope was to better prepare them for upcoming Fine Arts Academy auditions. Tech major Zwi Mesa was one of the hosts, there to answer questions and give some advice. “It was super fun,” Mesa said. “We got to show them how to tie knots; they got to ask questions and talk about their past experiences”. The kids were mostly from Lamar, but a couple students from both Lively and Kealing attended as well. The workshop displayed projects from past tech majors, who got into the program after successfully navigating the same audition process. Senior Crystal Patterson helped explain the process to the eighth graders. “There’s three different phases,” Patterson said. “There’s a Google form where you write about what you’ve done, then there’s an interview.
