Bodycam footage released Monday shows an officer fatally shooting a family’s dog last week as authorities were responding to a 911 call in the area of a home in Cobb County, Georgia, where someone shouted, “Help me.” One Cobb County officer drew a taser while the other pulled a gun, before killing the dog, named Zeta, on Dec. 2.
Police said the officer thought the dog’s actions were “potentially threatening” and shot it to protect himself, adding that no policies were violated.
Zeta’s family said they intend to take legal action against the department, saying, “She was the sweetest dog we’ve ever owned.”
