🎄Holidays and big gatherings can be scary and stressful when you are DHH in a hearing world. Here are 6 tips and things to know to help you and/or your child have the best experience possible. 1- Use a transcription app like Live Transcribe from google or Live Caption on apple. These are amazing tools that can help to make auditory conversations more accessible. 2- Learn a Holiday Song in ASL (or Auslan or BSL) ...and involve your family/friends! This can be a fun and ACCESSIBLE activity for everyone. 3- Put hearing devices in a dry storage box. Although it’s not summer, lots of kids get hot and sweaty in the winter wearing sweaters and hats! 4- Go shopping during the week. Avoid weekends if possible to limit overstimulation from crowds. 5- Get a Bluetooth lapel mic. Use Live Transcribe for yourself or for your children who can read.
