Do you know someone going through a tough time? ⠀
⠀
You can help others with their mental health by utilizing the EARS framework. This framework helps us have a meaningful conversation by guiding us with four simple words: Engage. Attend. Reinforce. Seek.⠀
⠀
Start by engaging with the person by asking how they have been feeling. Follow this with your full attention — make sure to listen actively. Reinforce the individual's experience by affirming feelings and building on positive outlooks rather than focusing on the struggle. Close your conversation by seeking help, together, if help is wanted.⠀
⠀
Note: Never force someone to do something they don't want to, including seeking help/treatment. Don't push the conversation. And never make the conversation about yourself.⠀
