Gilgo Beach serial killer suspect Rex Heuermann has requested multiple different trials for the seven women he’s charged with murdering, claiming he could be unfairly convicted due to a “cumulative effect.” Lawyers for Heuermann argued in court papers on Wednesday 22, that the initial three women he’s charged with murdering - Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Costello and Megan Waterman - should not be tried at the same time as the four women he was later also charged with killing. He requested that he have separate trials for each of the last four murders he was charged with — Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Jessica Taylor, Valerie Mack and Sandra Costillo. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. But prosecutors have alleged Heuermann followed a planning document he kept on a computer that kept track of torture, mutilation and dismemberment methods, tools required and dumping sites for bodies.
