Dijana Cullinan remembers being bombarded with a wave of emotions when her daughter, Fiona, was diagnosed with autism. Cullinan, who was handed five sheets of papers with phone numbers of people to call for appointments, was overwhelmed by all the things she quickly had to do.
“I was like, ‘There has to be something easier. There has to be something more efficient for families to not have to take more time away from their kids, more time away from their families, sitting here calling all these different places,’” Cullinan said.
Cullinan was instantly inspired to help others who were going through the same thing. She created fi_and_friends_, a nonprofit to provide inclusive and supportive environments for individuals on the autism spectrum disorder and their families.
