President #DonaldTrump on Monday said he would “immediately pause” the tariffs he just imposed on #Mexico this past weekend, after Mexican President #ClaudiaSheinbaum agreed to send 10,000 National Guard members to the border to combat drug trafficking. Trump, in a post on Truth Social, said he had a “very friendly conversation” with Sheinbaum about the matter on Monday morning. “These [Mexican] soldiers will be specifically designated to stop the flow of fentanyl and illegal migrants into our country,” he said. “We further agreed to immediately pause the anticipated tariffs for a one month period during which we will have negotiations headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent, and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and high-level Representatives of Mexico.” 🔗link in bio for more on this story.
