🔥TRUE🔥 Repost from rescue.rd • Sleep deficiency is a major challenge for firefighters. Lack of sleep threatens personal safety on duty, along with long-term health. Dietary choices are often impacted as well - who wants a salad when they barely manage3 hours of sleep? The ability to nap on duty varies between departments and even stations. Short naps provided the biggest bang for the buck in terms of benefits vs . ime commitment. A short nap (~20 min) can improve job performance, reduce anxiety/stress, and improve cardiovascular health. Keep these naps to 20 minutes to prevent falling into deeper stages of sleep. To “supercharge” a nap, drink 150mg of caffeine (12-16 oz coffee), then lay down for 20 minutes. You get the benefit of the nap and caffeine upon waking!
