This is the incredible moment a teenager was rescued after falling into a 50-foot mineshaft in Northern California last week. Footage shared by the Placer County Fire Department and Auburn City Fire Department shows how selfless rescuers reached the 16-year-old boy and pulled him out of the crevice after securing him into a harness. The unnamed teen and his friends had reportedly entered the horizontal shaft about 180 ft into the side of a mountain to explore and had rappelled around 40 to 50 ft down the shaft with household ropes. As they made their way back up, the boy's rope snapped and he plunged 30 ft to the bottom of the shaft. He reportedly tried to free climb back up, but ran out of strength. First responders rushed to the boy's rescue, setting up a complex air monitoring system before making their way down to him.
