HOW I BECAME THE YOUNG PROFESSOR Today marks 13 years since a 25 year old Matt Graifer walked into a college classroom to teach a group of students who were mostly older than him despite never teaching anything other than a spinning class or a “creative expressions” class for children at a summer camp. The journey was hard, and there were people who tried to put me down every time I started to win… but perspective is everything. Despite being cajoled for being “unqualified” then by people who only wanted to see me fail, I have now risen to a height in the sports industry that far eclipses anything that either of them have ever done combined. It’s funny how things work out. To the many students who gave me a chance to teach you: thank you.
