On March 1, 1872, yellowstonenps became the world’s first national park. Within Yellowstone’s 2.2 million acres, visitors have unparalleled opportunities to observe wildlife in an intact ecosystem, explore geothermal areas (hot springs are soooo hot right now...well, all the time) that contain about half the world’s active geysers, and view geologic wonders like the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. The most famous of all the geysers is Old Faithful, one of the most popular and recognized natural wonders in the United States with intervals between eruptions ranging from 35 minutes to 2 hours. It’s uncommon to be able to predict geyser eruptions with regularity but Old Faithful has lived up to its name, only lengthening the time between eruptions by about 30 minutes in the last 30 years.
