The number of Americans seeking UK citizenship has reached record high levels since Donald Trump was re-elected President. Ono Okeregha, director at the law firm Immigration Advice Service, said there was a 'huge spike' in British citizenship searches the day after the US election in November. Meanwhile there has been an increase in Americans seeking citizenship in Ireland, with a 46 per cent rise in applications last year from people in North America with Irish ancestry.
