CAKE BATTER:
• ½ cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• ½ cup brown sugar
• 3 eggs room temp
• ⅔ cup sour cream
• ½ tbsp vanilla extract
• 2 cups flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• ½ tsp nutmeg
• ½ cup milk
• ¼ cup dark rum
* Cream the butter and sugar, gradually add eggs, then add vanilla extract, mix in dry ingredients, finish with rum and milk. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes*
BROWN BUTTER ORANGE GLAZE:
• ½ cup butter browned
• ¼ cup brown sugar
• ¼ cup water
• ½ cup spiced rum
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• ½ orange zested
• 1 cup powdered sugar
*Brown the butter, remove from heat then add brown sugar, water and spiced rum. Bring to a simmer then remove and add vanilla extract and orange zest. Remove ½ cup for glaze later. Use remaining half to soak the cake*
Add sifted confectionate sugar to remaining sauce to make a glaze
