Take a tour inside your 🫀! In a world first, CZI-supported scientists just released these incredibly detailed 3D views of whole adult human hearts. Usually you have to dissect the heart to get this level of detail, but thanks to a new X-ray technique called HiP-CT, they could zoom into the heart right down to the level of its cells. They use this tool to study the electrical system that helps our hearts beat so they can see what changes cause irregular heartbeats. They’re contributing this work to the Human Organ Atlas, an open science image database helping us understand the anatomy of organs all over the body.
