🫣 What does AT Assessment actually mean? For some students, decisions about Assistive Technology (AT) are straightforward, especially when needs are clear and tools like highlighters or timers are readily available. However, students with more complex needs may require a formal AT assessment. Use your VATTS resources to effectively implement the SETT Framework (Student, Environment, Tasks, Tools), conduct device trials, and develop a solid implementation plan that goes in the IEP. Collaboration is key! The IEP team knows the student best and can use the VATTS to help guide decisions around AT - no AT specialist needed! When selecting AT, don’t forget to consider the training and possible services that are needed for both students and staff to ensure independent use of the devices.
