To fly four astronauts around the Moon, we need to practice for their return to Earth.
NASA and DeptofDefense teams recently began recovery training onboard USS_Somerset off the coast of California. During the twelfth test in the series, teams practice procedures they will use to recover the Orion spacecraft and crew following the Artemis II splashdown.
The Artemis II astronauts will splash down in the Pacific Ocean after their more than 600,000-mile (over 965,000 km) journey around the Moon. This will be our first crewed mission under the
#Artemis campaign.
