Happy World Turtle Day! While I love all species of tortoise, terrapin, and turtle, sea turtles hold a special place in my heart. Many are shy and tend to dart away if humans get too close. Some, however, can be bolder and even a little mischievous. I’ve spent hours with wise, old green sea turtles who patiently accepted my presence, and I’ve also encountered plenty of intrepid little travelers chasing after my camera. All of them—greens, hawksbills, loggerheads, and the rest—are veteran voyagers of the deep who deserve our respect and care. #worldturtleday
