Can you tell the difference between a seal and a sea lion? Here are some key features to help you spot who’s who:
Sea lions have small, visible external ear flaps, while seals only have tiny holes.
Sea lions have a rotating hip structure that allows them to "walk" on their flippers. Seals have more limited hip mobility, so they move on land by wriggling or "hopping" along their bellies.
Sea lions have larger, more powerful front flippers. Seals have smaller front flippers with longer claws.
Sea lions can be heard barking from miles away—it’s kind of their thing to be noisy—while seals only really make soft grunts.
So, can you guess which photo is which?
