We look back on things people did 50-100 years ago (like use public phone booths or paper maps) and think ‘wow, it’s wild that people used to live with that’. Meat production accounts for 30% of the planet’s land surface and 60% of greenhouse gasses generated from food production. But with emerging technologies in the food industry, we can achieve things that have never been done before, including growing meat for your burger from a petri dish. This technology applies techniques of regenerative medicine to cultivate meat products and could achieve up to 96% lower greenhouse gas emissions from food production because of their lower land, water and nutrient footprints.
