In fifty years, what will people look back on in today’s society that will seem outdated? Eating meat may be one thing that we’ll consider outdated in fifty years. Meat production accounts for 30% of the planet’s land surface and 60% of greenhouse gasses generated from food production. But with emerging technologies in the food industry, we can achieve things that have never been done before, including growing meat for your burger from a petri dish. This technology applies techniques of regenerative medicine to cultivate meat products and could achieve up to 96% lower greenhouse gas emissions from food production because of their lower land, water and nutrient footprints.
