Firstie Friday! This week’s #FirstieFriday features Maya Barcelo. Maya is a cyber operations major from Walnut, CA and plays an active leadership role on the yard. Known for her leadership and passion for fostering inclusivity, Maya serves as the Brigade Dignity and Respect Executive Officer (DRO), helping to shape the academy’s culture by promoting respect and dignity across all ranks. The DRO program, still in its early stages, is committed to creating an inclusive environment that equips Midshipmen to lead across diverse cultures, fully supporting the academy’s mission to develop future leaders. Maya also holds the role of #2ndcompanyusa Drill Officer (DrillO), where she takes pride in ensuring her company looks sharp during parades on Worden Field as she believes the parade field offers a valuable opportunity to showcase the professionalism and excellence of 2nd Company to visitors and Alumni.
