It might surprise people to know that I only train some movements, like ring muscle ups, like once a month in the off season. In my mid 30s I can’t afford to play it fast and loose with my training volume anymore. I’m in my “load management” era 😂. So when it comes to certain skills or high impact movements, unless it’s a pre competition phase, I take a less is more approach. But I try to make sure all my reps matter. What does that mean? It means programming things in a way to squeeze the most value out of every rep. When it comes to something like ring muscle ups we always lower impact movements to pre fatigue the muscles involved so that rep 1 already feels like rep 10. It’s a great way to get a good training stimulus without having to do tons of reps and risk things like ripped hands. You can get creative and have a lot of fun pushing your skills forward like this. Here’s one I did just the other day. . 8 sets 25’ front rack KB walking lunge 2x32kg 4 ring muscle ups Rest 30 sec...
