Surveillance video captured the moment two nurses rushed to protect newborns in a China maternity ward as it was violently shaken by a 7.7-magnitude earthquake in nearby Myanmar on March 28. At one point, one of the nurses can be seen cradling an infant in her arms, telling the baby, “it’s OK,” while desperately clinging to the bed of another to prevent it from rolling around the shaking room.
This hospital was located in Ruili City, Dehong Prefecture in China’s Yunnan Province. The death toll of the earthquake, which had an epicenter in central Myanmar and also caused impacts in Thailand, is expected to surpass 3,000.
