SPRINTING TOWARDS A WIN: Sophomore Tiara Cooks sprints to home base after singling on a bunt in the top of the fifth during the Knights’ victory over Navarro on March 25. Cooks ended up sliding into home plate to push the Knight lead to 7-0. Over the next two innings, the Knights scored six more runs to beat the Navarro Vikings 13-0. “I think we did really, really well,” Cooks said. Cooks reached base two other times after being walked. She scored one of these times. While Cooks was a force on the base paths, she said she is proudest of a deep pop-fly she hit to center field. Although the center fielder caught it, Cooks is happy with her at-bat especially because she usually bunts. “Since it’s only my second year playing softball, I think it was really good,” Cooks said. “I’m proud that I made contact and that it went far.
